Etta Baker

Etta Baker, born in 1913, was a Piedmont acoustic blues guitar player with a magical touch. She plays this music exactly how it is supposed to be played and recordings of her music give us a good impression of the way the guitar was was being played in the early 20th century by blues musicians in her area, North Carolina. She was taught to play by her father, himself a multi-instrumentalist, recorded some material pretty much by chance in 1956, but then remained virtually unheard of until later in her life when she recorded solo material and even made an instructional guitar video. This video would be an excellent starting point for anyone wishing to learn to play the real blues. Etta also collaborated with her friend, the great Taj Mahal, the super talented blues and world music artist
