Piedmont bluesman Blind Boy Fuller had a distinctive guitar playing style with lots of great riffs to go with his very effective singing style. The Rolling Stones lifted more than a few ideas from this man's repertoire and as one of the original bluesmen, Fuller's music helped pave the way for all that followed, including dance music

Johnny Fiasco has been putting out great house music for well over a decade, maybe two. Always quality, jazzy, deep house grooves. This track is featured on my DJ Emmjee House Mix Jan 2015 Jazzmatic
German producers have always been at the forefront of electronic music and David August is a great example of some of the talent coming out of Germany in recent times David August Boiler Room
At the same house I encountered Eat Static when I was younger, I also remember spending a very hazy day listening to this "transmission" from visionary electronic producers Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans The Future Sound Of London Essential Mix from 1993
Stephen Stills, with a serious talent for playing guitar, a magical singing style and masterful songwriting ability, had the respect of Jimi Hendrix, released a whole catalogue of amazing solo material and pretty much everything he ever touched turned to gold. He also recorded as the leader of his band Manassas whose self titled debut is a real giant of a blues rock album. Then there's all the CSNY material....and Buffalo Springfield.....Stephen was a main source of talent in all these lineups Manassas
Arguably Manchester's greatest ever band (alongside The Stone Roses and The Charlatans), the Happy Mondays pressed so many of the right buttons. They emerged from nightclub culture in the heady days of the legendary Hacienda club. Ecstasy was landing on British shores and the Mondays were like musical messengers who knew how to translate this new dawn into a musical form. Shaun Ryder's lyrics were funny and clever, they had style, they had great tunes, they had great musicians, they had bongos, they had a female vocalist to balance Shaun's drone, they partied and they put out lots and lots of amazing music. They worked with great producers too and a lot of credit should go to people like Steve Osborne and Paul Oakenfold who took the music to higher levels with their knowledge laden productions of Mondays' tracks Pills n Thrills n Bellyaches

Eat Static is a name synonymous with all things trippy and from outer space. Is this music made by aliens or for aliens? Implant from the Implant album
Larry Levan was the New York disco DJ they all queued up see. The sound he made at the Paradise Garage has never been matched and the echoes from the Garage are still reverberating around Planet Earth to this day. This man played the best dance records ever, on the best sound system ever (the legendary Richard Long sound system), all in the right order. He told stories, he spoke to individuals on the floor with his music and he rocked the house. He was an integral link in the development of house and garage music (the term "garage music" refers to the Paradise Garage). He was also a great producer and remixer. Sometimes the stars align, the waters part and a train rides through town which stops everyone in their tracks; Larry Levan was one of these people. He was integral to the design of the club and the configuration of the sound system. In an interview I heard him say something about the reason people come to see him is because his life is like a soap opera and they turn up to see what mood he is in, what he's going to do next. He was more than just some DJ. Listening to him talk you can hear a very engaged and focused man who was truly on top of his game and knew his craft inside out, a lesson for us all. Here is a section of Larry playing at the second anniversary of the Garage in 1979. The crowd must have been going crazy as Larry drops tune after tune of pure foot shaking gold. He takes them up, he takes them down, then he takes them right back up again. A master at work, this is pure magic!

Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson reached some incredible heights in music. This husband and wife duo recorded some of disco's greatest songs on top of writing numerous hits for some of America's most famous musical acts and icons. Stay Free and Don't Cost You Nothing are two outstanding songs from their extensive back catalogue. Stay Free in particular is nothing shy of a masterpiece.......for me it is one of the best tracks ever written. I don't know how many times I have listened to it since hearing it on David Mancuso's "The Loft", but it's got to be well over a hundred. Don't Cost You Nothing, another Paradise Garage and Loft classic is also sublime, with a driving drum break at the end and amazing key changes which elevate the song into the dizzy heights of the musical cosmos Stop! Stop! and listen to the voice Good God alive, ha You always got a choice Don't cost you nothing Take a chance as you go Stay Free
This set is a mixture of old and new house records mixed on a pair of 1210s. As DJ Emmjee I play different styles of house such as deep house, tech, tribal, vocal, disco and techno. My direction of travel now is definitely digital, so this mix is a farewell to vinyl as a new chapter begins. Enjoy the music!
Matthew B, Mr Bushwacka! and now Just Be. Certified genius, producer extraordinaire par excellence and fantastic DJ. He knows how to party too from what I can gather ;p I have so much respect for this man. He's been kicking out amazing records for so long now and has always maintained his artistic integrity. If it's got this man's name on it, it's going to be good So, for some classic Bushwacka! - The Egyptian
Uber dope slice of ambient from The Orb. For anyone who is not familiar with this and likes the track, the whole album "The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld" is right up there with the best of them.
The Orb - A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld
The name "A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld" is reminiscent of Pink Floyd's "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". I did an old tech house tape around the time of the millennium which had this on it....perhaps I'll dig it out and post it up if I can find it.
