Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal (Henry Saint Clair Fredericks, born 1942, Harlem, New York) is a multi disciplined, multi Grammy award winning American musician who is most well known as a bluesman. During his life he has become a musician of the world, embracing music from areas as diverse as Pacific islands, Africa and the Caribbean, while retaining his blues credentials and roots. Taj is a fantastic live performer who has an incredibly strong repertoire of music to deliver to his audiences.

In the true spirit of the blues, Taj Mahal's music incorporates humour, wit, euphemisms, spoken word and story telling. It is a popular misconception that blues music is about feeling down, which it can be, but it has more to do with dancing, laughing and good times. As someone who studied this music and worked with some of the greats of the genre, he does excellent renditions of traditional blues songs, plus he plays a great deal of his own material
